The LEAF project provided each of The Estate properties with an electricity energy monitor.
An energy monitor will not directly save The Estates’ tenants’ energy (Electricity), but it will help them work out where energy is being wasted in the properties and will help cut back on usage and waste.
An energy meter will show where power is going, for example a tenant may discover that an old freezer could be costing £80-£100 a year in electricity, or may find that certain appliances left on standby are using a great deal of electricity.
The best thing about wireless energy monitors is that they only take a few minutes to attach and no electrical experience is needed. The customer or tenant then has a raised awareness of what is being using and how it is being used.
These handy and cheap tools will allow The Estates’ tenants’ to keep an eye on the cost of running home or office appliances and lighting with ease.
The energy meter shows the current, past days, weeks or months to see if energy consumption has risen or fallen. It can also show total consumption since the last time it was reset or even show how much CO2 has been produced for the amount of electricity that has been used and the amount in Pounds and Pence of electricity being used.
